These Terms of Service govern your use of the Autore Jiu Jitsu Academy ("Autore," "we," "us") website, facilities, and services. By signing up for a membership, booking a class, or using our website, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing this website, reserving a class, enrolling as a member, or entering the Autore facility at 11943 Montana Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90049, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy. If you are entering these terms on behalf of a minor, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian and agree to these terms on the minor's behalf.
Memberships & Trials
Autore offers month-to-month memberships, class packs, and complimentary trial classes. Membership options, current rates, and any promotions are available at the front desk and may change from time to time.
Eligibility
Adult members must be at least 16 years old or enrolled with parental consent. Youth programs have age requirements specified at the time of enrollment. Autore reserves the right to decline or terminate a membership at its discretion.
Free Trial
A free trial class is limited to one class per person. You must complete a waiver prior to stepping on the mats. Trial participation does not create an ongoing membership and does not obligate you or Autore to any further service.
Payments & Cancellation
Memberships are billed monthly in advance via the payment method on file. You authorize Autore to charge that method for all amounts owed. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
Cancellation
You may cancel your membership at any time by submitting written notice at the front desk or by emailing info@autorebjj.com at least five (5) business days prior to your next billing date. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle. Partial-month refunds are not issued.
Holds & Pauses
Members may request a hold for travel, injury, or medical reasons for up to sixty (60) days in a calendar year with written notice. Holds longer than sixty days may be considered on a case-by-case basis with documentation.
Late Payments
Declined or late payments may result in suspension of gym access until the balance is paid. A late fee of up to $15 may apply to accounts more than seven days past due.
Participation & Assumption of Risk
Jiu jitsu is a contact grappling sport. Training carries an inherent risk of physical injury, including but not limited to bruises, sprains, strains, dislocations, fractures, concussions, and other injuries. By participating, you voluntarily assume all risks of injury.
All participants are required to sign a liability waiver prior to training. You represent that you are in sufficient physical condition to participate in class and that you have disclosed any medical condition, injury, or limitation that may affect your safety or that of your training partners.
You agree to train within your ability level, follow coach instruction, and tap early and often. Autore may pause or end your participation in any class or activity at the instructor's discretion.
Code of Conduct
The mat is shared space, and the community works because every member takes care of it. You agree to:
- Treat coaches, staff, and fellow members with respect at all times.
- Arrive clean, with trimmed finger and toenails, and in appropriate training attire.
- Tap when caught and release submissions immediately when your partner taps.
- Refrain from coaching other students unless you are a designated instructor.
- Avoid dangerous or malicious techniques not approved for the class being taught.
- Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior of any kind.
Autore reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership, without refund, for any violation of this code.
Youth Programs
Children enrolled in youth classes must be signed in by a parent or guardian. Parents are welcome to watch from the viewing area and must remain on premises for children under eight (8) years of age.
Youth programs include Youth 3-5, Youth 6-9, and Youth 10-14. Placement is based on age and coach assessment. Autore may recommend a different age group based on the child's development and readiness.
All youth classes are Gi format. Loaner Gis are available for trial classes, and parents are expected to purchase a Gi prior to ongoing enrollment.
Facility Rules
The following rules help keep the academy safe and sanitary for everyone:
- Shoes off the mats. Sandals or flip-flops on between the locker room and mat edge.
- No food, drink, or gum on the mats. Water bottles are allowed at the mat edge.
- No jewelry, watches, or piercings while training.
- Do not train if you are sick or have an open wound, skin infection, or contagious condition.
- Personal belongings are your responsibility. Autore is not liable for lost or stolen items.
- Photography or video recording inside the academy requires coach permission.
Media & Likeness
Autore occasionally photographs and films classes, events, and promotions for use in marketing materials, social media, and the website. By training at the academy, you grant Autore a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your image, likeness, and voice in such materials. If you prefer not to be photographed, please notify the front desk in writing and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.
